CSFD strongly believes accentuating social development using latest high-end technology. In the current projets that is being undertaken, CSFD is adopting technologies like satellite imagery, IOT, digitalizing of farmers’ database etc., to enable data driven decision making possible among the rural farming communities.
The target farmers will be introduced to an ICT application called as MAICE. This application is to facilitate percolation of technologies to the rural areas to change the face of agriculture. The proposed project utilizes Internet of Things (IOT) technology designed to record and analyze data related to land, farm inputs, farmers, soil health, etc., during the course of the project. MAICE, will be introduced in order to facilitate farmers to access data related to soil and weather parameters to take informed decisions for their farming operations.
MAICE is an immense value addition to the project given the services it provides.
It helps to:
- Creation of database of the information related to farmers, their income, landholdings, farm inputs, soil data, etc., which are crucial while understanding the impact of the project. The measurable baseline data related to farm inputs, land data, soil health will be collected through the application which will help in making an accurate comparative analysis.
- Real time data related to the soil moisture which helps the farmers to make an estimation of the water required for the fields. This reduces wastage of water.
- MAICE helps in improving the agricultural productivity of the farmers, thereby enhancing their livelihoods and their income levels.
- The weather data also helps the farmers in planning the crops needed to be grown for the upcoming season by analyzing the weather data.
- Appropriate precautions can be taken to minimize the risks caused by weather.
- The digital gender divide is also reduced as this technology will also be made available to the women farmers.
